Seduced by Siargao

Eleven years ago, when I was doing research for the two travel guides that we wrote, I fell in love with Siargao. To me it was the most beautiful place I had been to. Finally, March 2006, I returned. I am thankful to my "big mouth" (which is usually on the silent side): At the beginning of 2006 I spent a wonderful month on Haad Yuan and Haad Tien on Koh Phangan, Thailand. I went for yoga classes and found a very pretty and special place frequented by wonderful people from all over the world...however, I boasted to everyone I met therethe beaches in the Philippines are better...and, a month after I left, I received an email from Roxana, who is from Mexico City, a fellow ashtangi and great friend "Daniela and I are coming to see the best beaches in the world." Did I panic, maybe just for one second...I was very confident that what beach I decided to bring them to, will be one of the best beaches they will have been to yet .... SO, I am very thankful to both of them for finally getting me back to Siargao ....

And yes...Siargao is still my favorite place, it is paradise: a beach and nearby islets with fine white sand fringed with palms on one side and clear azure/emerald water on the other, venture through a cave with limestone formations into an amazing lagoon, kayak through really healthy mangrove forests, learn to surf at a place once kept secret by a hand full of world-class surfersCloud Nine (Tuason Point), and enjoy the genuine warmth of the people!

Daniela, who is from Argentina, and Roxana agreed that Siargao and the surrounding islands make the area the most beautiful destination they have ever been to...and they have traveled a lotcentral and south America, Europe, and in Asia: Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Maldives, Korea, and Thailand.

Enjoy the pictures below ... none were photo-shopped! ... they appear in the order as taken during our explorations
